found it — a color-blend helper was feeding its own rgb() output back into a hex parser, which threw and quietly killed the render loop before a single pixel drew. suns are back. and yes, BT is fine.

fixed it — style.css set display:flex on the modal, which silently beats the browser's own hidden-attribute rule, so it never actually hid. added an explicit [hidden] override 🤡
